Is This Really Happening? - The First Day of Kindergarten (Part 2)

And the big day continues...
 Giving his teacher her flowers

No tears for either one of us= Shocking!

Elijah and his teacher, Ms. Timmons

Elijah wanted to ride the bus home in the afternoon because his friends/neighbors ride it. We thought that was great!
Note: I am so thankful he wanted to because the dismissal car line is beyond long.

He told me he wanted me to meet him at the corner of our cul-de-sac and not at the actual bus stop. Such a big boy.
And it was at this moment that I started to cry. The shock wore off and the reality hit. So I did have tears his first day, just not when I thought I would have them. :)

Left him at school smiling and he came home smiling.

Unpacking his backpack

 His folder

A special treat for completing his first day of Kindergarten (candle included)
He ate 2 of them and said he wanted to keep the other 2 for the next day.

Is This Really Happening? The First Day of Kindergarten - Part 1

Well, I don't know how it happened or where time went, but on August 25th, 2014, our pride and joy started his first day of Kindergarten. Really?!
There are no words that I can type that would truly explain how Byron and I felt about this special day. We thank God daily for these moments and look forward to this new chapter in all of our lives. Let the journey begin!

 Breakfast time

He woke up for me easily and was in the best mood

Oh course there is always time for a silly picture

Waiting in traffic but still smiling

He wanted to take flowers to his teacher the first day. Love that heart of his!

Byron had already faced timed with Elijah before we left. But he called Elijah again as we were walking to the school. Byron was in Canada so missing this was very hard for him! But his calls and encouragement to Elijah meant so much to Elijah. He knew that his Daddy was there with him in his heart.

Almost there

Reading Program & VBS

Elijah participated again in the summer reading program through the Sienna library. This year was very special to us because he read 3 of the books himself.

Also this summer Elijah participated in "Weird Animals" VBS at our church. This year he was in the kinder group instead of preschool so that made him feel more grown up. I taught crafts for the preschool kids so Elijah was on his own this time & seemed to enjoy that as well. He is growing up too fast!

Kindergarten Meet & Greet

Before heading to Elijah's kindergarten Meet and Greet, he asked me to take some pictures of him. My response, "Would love to!" :)

Elijah did very well at the meet and greet. He acted like a big boy and did what he could do by himself without my help. (Sorry for the blurriness of the next couple of pictures. I am not sure what happened)

Each child was given a bag filled with goodies to help reassure them as they started this new chapter in their lives. When we got home, I read what each item represented as Elijah took them out of the bag. I Thought this was such a cute and thoughtful touch for the kiddos.

There is always time to build forts

Now that is a full moon!

Sometimes Elijah gets in the mood to clean, strange for an almost 6 year old, I know, but he enjoys it and I can always use the help. :)
