Black Friday with Pops!

So, for the past two years, Elijah has joined Byron, with Black Friday shopping. They basically go to Home Depot and Lowes. Even though it is only two stores, the fact that Elijah will get up so early is impressive to both of us. In fact, this year made the 3rd year in a row that Elijah was the first one in line at Home Depot.

However, this year was super special because Elijah convinced his Pops to go with them shopping. First major fact about this accomplishment is that my Dad has never gone Black Friday shopping. Did I mention he is 80?!

Also, that he delayed their leaving to heading back to Mississippi so he could go with his grandson. To me, that is LOVE because myself (Elijah's mom) won't even go. This mamma likes her sleep too much.

Pretty sure it is safe to say this is a day that none of us will forget. 😍

The Home Depot worker that was at the door recognized Elijah.
She took a picture of him and Tweeted it, Got to love it!

The main thing that my boys go to get each year for me.
Poinsettias for me to use as part of our decorations.

Thanksgiving Day 2017

We had a laid back Thanksgiving Day...and to me, those are the best! Well, Byron was busy all day with cooking but that is enjoyment to him. 😋

We were thrilled to have my Mom and Dad with us for Thanksgiving this year. It meant a lot to Byron and me but it meant the world to Elijah.

Byron has always had Elijah crumbled up the corn bread for the dressing.
He says that is what makes it taste so good.

 My amazing parents!!
They are my example of true and everlasting love!

Elijah and Pops decided to take a bike to the park.
I just pray, that at 80, I am as active
as my Dad, or at least as half as active as he is!

 Check out this bread
Believe it rose like should! 😛

Think we have enough of good?
Byron did a great job and it was so yummy!

Elijah IS Nine!

We were blessed to have Elijah's Nana and Pops here for his actual birthday. We enjoyed time together as a family on his special day. Then before dinner he opened his gifts.

Then after opening his presents, we headed out to dinner. We were excited to have Erin, my mom's best friends granddaughter, go with us as well. She had stayed a few days with us to help her mom and grandmother out. Elijah enjoyed having her stay with us.

We went to an early dinner at Casa da Bravos, Elijah's favorite place hands down! He loves their green sauce and their quesadillas.

At 4:44 on November 21st, we celebrated Elijah being officially NINE!

Later that evening, we finished up his birthday celebration with cake.

Elijah's 9th Birthday Party

So for Elijah's 9th birthday party, we decided to keep it simple this year. No theme and no structured activities. And you know what? It was so nice! Elijah and his friends had a blast. He decided to have an all boys party. They swam for 2 hours, ate a lot of hot dogs, chips, and cake. A special thank you to Byron for keeping the grill going and the boys feed. 💓

Then Elijah had his friend, Nolan, stay for a sleep over. I would love to have half of the energy those two had for the rest of the afternoon and evening. 😲
Think it is far to say, his birthday party for turning nine was a success!

 Our BIG boy!

We love you to the moon and back Elijah!

Livingston National Park Camp Out

Elijah and his Dad had a great two-night camp out with their den/pack at Livingston National Park . They were non-stop from Friday afternoon till they finished up Sunday morning after breakfast. They came back with a lot of good memories created but they were worn out. Ha! It took both of them about 2 days to get caught up on their sleep.

While they were gone, I enjoyed eating queso and watching the Hallmark Channel. 😉

These are some fossils Elijah and Byron found on one of their walks.
