Out of the Blue

Elijah has never really had a desire to learn to ride his bike and progress with his ability. Even when his friends were riding their bikes and mastering their skills well, he just didn't care. So instead of us worrying about it, we decided to let the matter go and hoped it would happen when HE was ready. So to our complete surprise this past Sunday, he asked his Dad if they could ride to the park. We didn't think he would follow through, but he did! He rode all the way to the park, played at the park, and then rode back home. He was so proud of himself, as were we! He still isn't a big fan of riding a bike or getting better at it, but we will take small steps any day.

I loved what my friend said to me, "Michelle, my sister never liked to ride a bike but she still graduated from college.Thank you Liz Brown for always finding a funny way to put things in prospective for me.

He made it :)

There is a New Chef in the Kitchen

As I have said before Elijah likes to cook... pretend cook, make spice rubs, and really cook. He has learned to use the food processor and mixer just recently (of course supervised). So on this particular evening he started off with making a rub for his Dad, but ended up making bread.

Even the chef needs to stop and drink some water

What do you do when you think your 25 something variety of spices isn't enough? Why of course, you take some from Daddy's stash.

Elijah's su chef... his Daddy :)

Putting the bread that Elijah made in the oven.

Houston Museum of Natural Science

Elijah has started showing some interest in dinosaurs lately. Not knowing how long the interest will last, we decided to take this opportunity and visit the Museum of Natural Science. (He had only gone to the butterfly part before)
We were able to explore all the cool dinosaur things, and Elijah saw a real mummy for his first time. He wasn't quite sure about that. :)
We didn't get to do all that we wanted to because of another engagement we had that afternoon. But we will be going back especially know that we are members.
He had the best time riding this dinosaur. It was a ride and the dino roared and moved all around.

After the museum, we walked to a restaurant that I had seen before in the area. This was our first time to eat there. The food was very good and well priced!

I thought it was so cool that they served the nachos in a bowl. You go through the line and tell them exactly what you want on your dish. Talk about made to order!
Mommy and Elijah's Nachos= chips, queso, black beans, grilled fajita meat, and black olives

And we had a lot left over because the portions were huge!
(The poor quality of this picture doesn't give the food justice)

First Day of School

September 3, 2013 marked Elijah's first day of school and his last year at Christ Church School. It was a little sad, but we are thankful to have one more year there.

 He is getting so tall

The bag in the picture was one of his homework assignments he had to take the first day. They were to put 3 things in the bag that that told a little about who they were.
Elijah's bag had: a piece of wood(he likes to build), a container of seasoning (he likes to cook), and a Southern Rock CD (his favorite song is "Sweet Home Alabama")

Our boy is growing up :(

First day surprises from Mommy and Daddy

Kendall, who Elijah has a crush on, rode home with us. So I wanted her to have some surprises waiting for her as well.

Heading home after a GREAT first day!

He has learned to use the can opener all by himself.
And he continues to like chopping onions using the chopper shown

Open House

Elijah had a great time at his Open House. He really likes his teachers (me too) and his classroom. Looks like we have another great year ahead of us. Hard to believe that this is Elijah's last year of Pre-K. He is growing up too fast for us!
