This is a countdown sign that Byron made 11 years ago when we moved into our house. Byron is making us a new one for next year because this one has seen better days.

We rarely get a picture of all three of us but we did this time :)

Chirstmas 2010

You will notice something different about this post as you read it... no pictures. I have many we want to share for this post, but they are on the memory card that we left in Texas. Ugh! :(
We are currently in Mississippi continuing our Christmas celebration with family and friends. But as soon as we return home, I will add the pictures to this post.

How much fun we had Christmas Eve night preparing for Santa's visit. We made sure there was reindeer dust on the lawn so the reindeer's would see our house. After that we made cookies for Santa. Elijah got so excited about leaving the cookies and milk out for him. After that Elijah opened his gifts from Mommy and Daddy. He also helped us open our gifts to each other as well. :) As the evening went on, we tracked Santa on the computer to see how his travels were going. We brought our evening to an end by all of us putting on our new Christmas pajamas and reading the Christmas story from the Bible.

Christmas morning was great! Elijah really enjoyed coming downstairs and seeing what Santa had left him. He liked all his gifts, but his tricycle and kitchen were two of his favorites. He had the best time playing with all of his gifts throughout the morning while Byron worked very hard on cooking us a delicious Christmas feast. Way too much food for 3 people, but it was all so good! :) As the big day came to an end, Elijah watched "Polar Express" for the final time this year and Byron and I gave thanks for such a great day with our little family.
All in all, Christmas 2010 at The Polk's house was fun, laid back, and a very special time for our family.

Mission Accomplished

After seeing the excitement on Elijah’s face the other night when he saw the Thomas the Train Christmas decorations, I was on a mission. I am happy to say, “Mission accomplished” and I even got it on sale! :)

What a Dad!! Byron was jet lagged and was also having major problems with his ears from flying with a sinus infection, but he was not going to let that stop him from sharing these moments with Elijah. We went to see the live nativity scene presented by a church here in Sienna and then finished our outing to check out some our community's Christmas lights.

December has been a fun and busy month, and the best it still yet to come. We can't wait!

A Few Art Projects From School
This is an ornament that Elijah's teachers made for us at school. This made me cry because it made me stop once again and realize how blessed we are by Elijah and smile because once again he is so serious, which is not Elijah at all. It is hanging on our tree right now with great pride. Also, each child made a gift for their parents and was told not to open it till Christmas Day. The gift was even wrapped so I couldn't peek. Elijah kept saying "No no open, Mommy"




Christmas Lunch/Party at school on Thursday
I love how much food Mrs. Joyce and Ms. Lisa gave the kids. I guess they wanted to make sure the kids didn't go hungry. :) All joking aside, we LOVE Elijah's teachers!!
Dessert time - Not sure what is up with his facial expression. The sweet young girl sitting by Elijah is Evie. She is the only girl in the class but she holds her own with all those boys. Love that!

We had the privilege to be a part of Madeline's 1st birthday. She was so cute and her mom, Whitney, did such a great job with the party.


A Trip to the Zoo
On a recent visit from my parents, we headed to the zoo for the morning. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed seeing the new Africa exhibit.

MOPS Annual Moms and Kids Christmas Party

I have enjoyed being a part of a local MOPS group this year. This past Friday they held their Mom and Kids Christmas party. It was a fun time and Elijah enjoyed listening to the story of Baby Jesus' birth and completing all the craft projects. He also loved running around the gym - got to love boys!
