The Whistle Stop

On our second day of our drive to Edisto Island, we stopped at Juliette, GA to eat at the Whistle Stop. Byron had eaten there before when working in the area, so this time he wanted to take us. The food was very yummy! I had their fried chicken (Elijah ate some of my food) and Byron had their Powermans burger. And of course we had to have the famous fried green tomatoes.

The link below will give you a history of the place including the movie that was filmed there, Fried Green Tomatoes.

These didn't last long at all
Note: Elijah and I neither one like tomatoes, but we both like fried green tomatoes. :)

Elijah got this old bugle horn from one of the stores in town.

The Tooth Fairy's First Vist

Well, we ended our Fourth of July weekend with an added surprised. Elijah lost his very first tooth! It had been extremely lose for awhile, but he just couldn't bring himself to pull it. However, this night he found the courage. He was so excited!

Happy Birthday America!

This year for the Fourth of July we decided to make our own shirts. I found this idea on Pinterest and what I liked about it was that is was cute and easy to make too.

This year we also decided to host a Fourth of July party for our cul-de-sac. There were ten of us. Two of the families in our circle had prior plans so that couldn't join us. We plan on making this an annual event, so hopefully next year all our neighbors can attend. We had a lot of fun and there was plenty of great tasting food.
Byron smoked a Boston Butt and a whole chicken. He also grilled stuffed jalapenos as an appetizer. And he grilled corn and hamburgers too. To add to the yummy spread of food, our neighbors brought appetizers, side dishes, and desserts.

 Elijah and William

Michael, Stephen, and Chef Byron

Luckily, we had finished eating when the storm rolled in so we just moved the party inside. No reason to let the weather stop the fun.

Elijah giving William a hug before he had to head home for bedtime.

 Happy Fourth of July!

The weather continued to be bad but around 8:45 the thunder and lighting stopped and it was just a light rain. So we put on our rain gear and went to watch the fireworks.

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch - The Petting Zoo

After finishing our exploration with wild animals, we visited the petting zoo. The animals ever very tame and didn't jump all over you like the ones at the rodeo.

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

On our way back home from our anniversary trip, we took Elijah to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. Byron and I had been before and we thought Elijah would really like it...and he did.
