Recent Trip to "Issippi"

This past weekend we went to Mississippi, or as Elijah says "Issippi" to visit his grandparents. They live only a hour and 15 minutes apart. So when we do go for a visit ,it is always crazy, but fun. :)

Elijah also had a good time riding in the trailer while Granddaddy and Daddy drove him around with the lawn mover. I wish I had taken some pictures of this but Mommy drooped the ball.


On Saturday, Hazlhurst held its 2nd Rocking Railroad Festival. Elijah had a good time and really liked checking out the caboose.

Saturday Raleigh held it's annual Heritage Festival. This is Papaw and Elijah checking it out.

Elijah took take his first tractor ride this weekend too. He loved steering the tractor and blowing the horn. He was in heaven!

Elijah went fishing for the first time while were at my parent's house. At first he wasn't to sure about it, but then he had a blast. Believe it or not, he caught 7 fish!

On Thursday, I asked Mrs. Joyce, Elijah's teacher, if she would take a picture of him while he napped. I thought it would be fun to have one of him. Not only did she take a picture of him napping, she also took some pictures of him throughout the day. Thank you Mrs. Joyce! :)

Grocery Shopping

Elijah enjoys going to HEB. He begins each trip by getting a balloon and then we have to check out the lobsters. But hands down his favorite thing to do is eat the cheese samples. Elijah LOVES cheese! He has even made a friend in the cheese department, Mrs. Mary, who always hooks him up when she is working. :) We end each trip by him asking the cashier for some Buddy Bucks and then he retrieves his points using them. Byron and I are happy that he enjoys going to the grocery store since it seems to be a regular stop for us. :)




Occasionally we get the "car cart" and Elijah has the best time driving it. Notice the string behind him? That is his balloon.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was different for us this year because Byron was not able to be with us. :( He is in Algeria for several weeks with work. So Elijah and I were very happy that my parents came to spend the holiday weekend with us. Elijah loved spending time with his Papaw and was very sad to see him leave on Tuesday. However, my mom stayed on to spend more time with us and help me out. Elijah was very happy that his Nana was staying longer with us. I feel so blessed that my parents have always and continue to be there for my family and me. I love you Mom and Dad! And we miss you very much Daddy!!

The First Day of School

Yesterday was Elijah’s first day of school. Byron and I experienced a wide range of emotions from excitement, worry, and sadness. I think it is fair to say that we were worried more than anything. So when it came time for us to leave, we were shocked in a good way. Elijah didn’t cry! What a big boy!! Something else that surprised us too was when he saw the other kids crying, he didn’t start crying with them like he normally does. In fact, they said he did not cry at all the whole day. Amazing!

Another concern we had was Elijah not napping and/or talking and keeping the other kids awake. He has been having a hard time lately with naps at home as well. So, I called the school when I knew they had been at nap time for about 30 minutes to see how he was doing. Again, another good shock, he was asleep as well as all the kids in his class. I know his teachers loved that everyone went to sleep. I had to call Byron and tell him the great news. He couldn’t believe it either. I don’t know how long he slept, but even if he only slept a little it was a huge milestone for him. When I went to picked him up, he was still having fun and gave me a big smile when he saw me. Priceless!

I decided to put him to bed a little earlier last night since I wasn’t sure how long he slept and because he looked very tired. It took him less than 10 minutes to go to sleep and slept for 12 ½ hours! I think it is fair to say that his first day of school wore him out. :)

Byron and I had been praying that Elijah would have a great first day and once again God answered our prayers. We just hope that the remaining school days go as well as the first.

Looking at his house for his introduction of his family to his friends. The house was to have pictures of family members and pets on it. The teachers also use this project of a way to help with any anxiety that the kids might be feeling the first few weeks. Cute idea I thought!


It didn't take long for Elijah to find a construction toy. He loves all construction things.
