Cub Scouts... Father like Son

Byron is proud to call himself Eagle Scout and he should be! I don't think most people truly know that is involved in receiving this honor. I know that, as Byron's wife, that it is something that I am very proud to share with others that my husband accomplished. 

We are very excited that Elijah wants to follow in his Daddy's footsteps. Last week, Elijah completed the necessary requirements to receive his Bobcat badge. 

I am also very proud of Byron stepping up and volunteering to be the assistant den leader for Elijah's den. So proud of both of my guys! 

 

A Visit from Nana and Pawpaw

A very true statement is...when Elijah's Nana and Pawpaw come for a visit, that good times, laughter, and none stop fun are going to happen ! 

Byron and I are beyond thankful (especially with Byron and myself being older parents) that both sets of grandparents are a part of Elijah's life and love him so much!

My mom put her personal life on hold when I gave birth to Elijah. She basically moved to Texas and keep him while I finished up my teaching job. She was willing to give up, a lot, so that we wouldn't have to put him daycare. There are no words how much that meant to us as his parents! We are forever grateful! 

Take Me Out to the Ballpark

This year is Elijah's first year to play fall ball. We were lucky enough to have 6 of the Spring teammates be on the Fall team. All the boys, on our team are either 6 or 7, but we were placed in the 8U division. So let's just say, that it has lender itself to some interesting games already. But I am beyond proud of Elijah's team, they play their best each time and have fun! Couldn't ask for anymore than that.  

Lunch Time with Daddy

We are very blessed that with Byron's normal work schedule and him needing to take some days off has, created some very special lunch times for Elijah. Every Friday, since the start of September, Byron has taken Elijah to school for me so I can get to work extra early. Plus Byron brings a special lunch for Elijah & joins him at his lunchtime. I am beyond thankful for this opportunity. These are just some of the memories that Elijah will remember. LOVE these two SO much! 

2nd Annual Guy's Get-a-Way

Last year Byron and I started our own special "over-night" get away with Elijah. 

This year for Byron's and Elijah's turn, they started the day off at the zoo. That was followed by checking out Byron's new office. 

Then they checked into the Crown Plaza Hotel in downtown Houston. While they were they they enjoyed room service (twice), a swim in the extremely cold pool, and a little exercise time. 

The next morning was a bacon-eating contest at the restaurant in the hotel. This year Byron won. So the record is 1-1 at this time. :)

All in all, another successful guy's get away and great memories being made.

Conclusion to Our Trip to Oklahoma

We also took Elijah back to Mount Scott. This is a place that Byron and his family went to regularly when they went to Oklahoma. 

We took Elijah for the first time to The Holy City as well.

Trip to Oklahoma

So what happens when I got back to working/teaching full-time? You get really behind our our family's blog. Now, it is time to catch up. 

In August we took a trip to Oklahoma to see Byron's grandmother (Elijah's great-grandmother) before school started. 

We drove to Wichita Falls, TX the first day to just to change up the drive to Duncan, Oklahoma. The two pictures below are from a park and water fall there. 

The next morning, we drove to Fort Sill to check it out. Byron had been there before when he was young, so he really wanted to take Elijah.

And of course, any trip to Oklahoma means lunch at Meers. :)
