Are Your Ready for Some Football?

"Mr. Kennedy, did you ask who wants an ice cold juice box?"

Tonight we went to a Super Bowl party at one of our neighbor’s house. Elijah had a blast with all the older kids there, sampling the yummy food, playing outside, and running around their house. Our neighbors have the sweetest dog, Buddy, and Elijah was crazy about him. When he licked Elijah’s hand, Elijah just laughed and laughed. Yep, it is just a matter of time before our little guy is asking for a dog. Oh my!:) I tried my best to get some pictures of Elijah at the party but with him walking now all bets are off. He is too fast and Mommy can’t snap fast enough. Thanks Mrs. Dawn and Mr. Kennedy for a fun evening. Who Dat?? That would be the New Orleans Saints, the 2010 Super Bowl winners!

Going to Church

Elijah and Maria (his care taker in the nursery) Elijah loves Mrs. Maria and she loves him too!

Elijah and Peter checking out the cool toys.

Mrs. Maria, can you tell Erika and me how this works again?

Hey Cooper, check out this cool police motorcycle.

Today I had the privilege of volunteering in Elijah’s room at church. I enjoyed getting to play with so many sweet babies! I loved seeing all the different personalities shine through. The cool thing about his class is all the kids were born in November 2008. I enjoyed seeing Elijah in an environment that we don’t usually get to see since we are in big church. Spending time with him and the other kids made me realize how blessed we are that God gave us Elijah! Second Baptist has an amazing kid’s ministry and we are so thankful that Elijah can be a part of it.

Shear Success!

Today Elijah had his second hair cut and he did great. No tears at all! Lucia, the lady who cut his hair, was so good with him. He really liked the animal crackers she gave him to eat during the haircut (check out his hand in the second picture). His hair in the back grows so fast but the front is another story. :) He got a thrill in redeeming his prize for being such a big boy and doing so great. Mommy was proud of him too! The end result was a "cut" above.

A Few of My Favorite Things

One of Elijah’s favorite places to go with his Dad is Home Depot. What does he like to check out there? Grills! He loves everything about them. In fact, when Byron grills at home Elijah is out there helping his Dad anyway he can – such as helping his Dad to open and close the lid of the grill, making sure everything is cooking ok ,wanting to turn the knobs, etc. It is the sweetest thing to see! Add being outside to the mix, and he is one happy boy.

Elijah has always liked going to Gymboree but now that he is waking, he absolutely loves it. He has a new confidence in himself that shines through each time we go now. We are SO blessed!

2010 - Not the Best Start for Elijah Boo

Elijah got sick right after the New Year. I took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with a bad cold. Fast forward a week later, and our little guy had gotten worse. So, this past Monday, I took him back to the doctor. Unfortunately, he was wheezing and had a horrible cough. Our doctor visit was so hard on me because they had to do a nose swab test and breathing treatment for him. Our poor baby cried through both procedures. I just broke my heart!! The plan of action now is to give him breathing treatments 3 times a day for 5-7 days. The breathing treatments are no fun for him or us but we only have 2 days left. The good news is that he is doing better. Yea! To the amazement of Byron and me, Elijah continues to be his happy self for the most part and continuously on the move. He is always busy! :) We are so blessed to have such a great kid! Update on his walking: Elijah is still unsure about his ability to walk. He mainly walks short distances when he knows he has something to walk to. In wide open places, he still wants to crawl. We know before long he will “just be walking” –everywhere. We are looking forward to having our baby boy well and getting back into our normal routine.

Look No Hands

To paraphrase Neil Armstrong, “That is one small step for man and one giant leap for “Elijah kind”. Yes, you guessed it, our little guy is now walking! We are thrilled to say the least! On Christmas Eve, while his Aunt Kit was visiting, Elijah took his first steps. So we hoped that walking would soon follow, Then today to our surprise and excitement, he started walking on his own. He is still wobbly and unsure at times, but he seems to be so proud of himself – as well as we are!:) What amazes us even more is that even though he isn't feeling well, he was still was able to accomplish this very special milestone his life. I captured this moment on my phone (video above) and we will treasure it forever! So, at 13 months,Elijah has created another special memory that his parents will never forget. We continue to be amazed how our precious boy has brought so much love and happiness into our lives God has truly blessed us!
