Rachel was the only girl at the party because she and Elijah are  friends/neighbors. Rachel starts kinder next year.

But she didn't want to build :)

In this picture there is Nathan and Luke. They attended the party as well but I didn't get a picture of them at their turn with the pinata. Nathan is in Elijah's class and Luke is his friend/neighbor who attend SCE as well.

Elijah said it was an awesome birthday party. So to us, that means success and makes us feel good!

Building Birthday Party

Elijah wanted to greet his first guest at the door.

 Byron had made a nail-hitting practice board for the boys to use before building there airplanes. It was so funny to watch all of them. 

 Each guest received a real hammer, ear plugs, and safety glasses to use during the build time. Safety first! Then they we able to take those items home, as well as their plane. Byron is the one who came up with this super cute idea.

Everyone hard at work. The boys did a great job of listening to Byron and following his directions. That is impressive for 5-6 year old boys :)

 The parents were so wonderful helping their kiddos out as well. We were very appreciative of that.

Building Birthday Party - Decorations

This year Elijah wanted a "building" themed party. So that is what we did!

After they build their planes, ate, had cake, etc then it was time for a different kind of building. Building/creating with food. 

This is Mr. Herman. 

His granddaughter and Elijah are friends. And even though Kendall (his granddaughter) couldn't make it, he still came to help Byron out. 

He also likes to build/construct like Byron.

A Very Special Veteran's Day Program

Sienna Crossing Elementary put on an incredible Veteran's Day program! However, the icing on the cake was that Elijah's Pawpaw (my Dad) was able to attend. It is amazing what a Pawpaw and a Nana will do when Elijah asks. :)

We went inside before the program started so my Dad could see his poster that Elijah help me make. Elijah didn't want him to see it till the program. 

 The hallways were lined with so many Veteran posters, pictures, artwork,  and writing that the kids had done.

 The 3rd graders sang a song where each branch of the military was introduced & that branches theme song was sung. Here is my Dad standing up when the Air Force was introduce.

 After the program, all the veteran's and their spouses had a catered lunch provided by the school (the entire staff) and the PTO. If any of the students had a Veteran in attendance, they were able to have lunch with them. Elijah really enjoyed having lunch with these two.

Byron's Dad,  James Harold Polk 

2 years of service in the United States Army

4 years service in the Mississippi National Guard

Elijah is blessed to have had both of his grandfathers proudly serve this great country. Byron's brother, James Blake Polk also served 10 years in the US Army. He was active duty for 8 months for Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
On my Mom's side of her family there were 7 family members who served. And on my Dad's side of his family, there were 12 family members who served.
