Meet Yogi

When Elijah and his classmates return next week to school, they have been asked to bring a stuffed bear. They are having a teddy bear week and plan on fun activities using them. So,since I have been wanting to take Elijah to Build-a-Bear for awhile now, I finally had a legitimate excuse to take him there. It was a lot of fun!
One side note: When Elijah starting looking for the bear he wanted, he immediately went to the camo bear. So, I asked him to at least look at all the bears and other animals before he made his final choice. But, he went right back to the same bear. Guess he knew what he wanted.

After spending his gift card (Thank you Uncle Mike and Hannah!), we enjoyed a nice lunch out.

OK, as a Mom, can I brag on our son just for a moment? :) While we were eating lunch, a employee of Chick-fil-a brought this over to us. When she set it down on the table, I told her that we had not ordered it. She responded saying that she was giving it to Elijah because he was so polite and cute as we were ordering.

A Windy Day

Byron and Elijah went shopping on Sunday and returned with two kites. It was a very windy day, a perfect day for kite flying. So we headed to the amphitheatre and Elijah(with the help of his Daddy) flew a kite for his first time. Even though we reminded him not to let go when he was flying it, he did of course. :) But Byron was able to get it back and from that point on, Elijah held on tight. Love spontaneous family times like these.

Houston Fire Museum

Elijah has always liked fire trucks but during the past month he has shown a greater interest in them. So on Saturday (March 12th) we headed midtown(downtown) to check out the Houston Fire Museum. This is a local museum and is limited in what it has to offer but Elijah still had a wonderful time. If you go expecting big things (like the Children's Museum) you might be disappointed but it is still a fun place. The staff was so nice and well informed! We definitely thought it was worth the trip and probably will go back again.

Elijah had the best time driving the fire truck and turning on all the lights.

After visiting the museum, we headed to Chuy's for a very yummy lunch. Elijah LOVES queso (like me) and even though it was a little spicy, it didn't slow him down. We are so happy he likes Mexican food like we do.

Our Visit to the Rodeo - Part 2 - "The Carnival"

After lunch we headed to the carnival area of the rodeo. We decided to see if Elijah would show any interest in riding the rides. To our complete surprise, not only did he want to ride them, he wanted to ride ALL of them. This completely shocked us. We were also taken back when he got upset when we left the carnival area. Crazy but sweet! If he could have rode the rides over and over we believe he would have. The only down side of the carnival was there was a limited amount of rides that he was able to enjoy for his height and that we could ride with him. There were many rides he desired to try but even with one of us riding with him, he still had to meet the height requirements. We felt SO bad for him but we used this opportunity to emphasize the importance of rules. He had so much fun! (as did we).

Yeehaw! Our Visit to the Rodeo- Part 1

On Friday, March 11th, we headed out to the rodeo. The weather could not have been any better - cool temperatures and nothing but blue skies! It was not only a perfect weather day but an amazing day for our family. Elijah had a BLAST and so did his Mommy and Daddy.
There was a very nice man who let Elijah pet his cows. Then on top of that he told Elijah about their branding and how they did in the shows. Such a very nice and unexpected treat!
To use a phrase that my friend Alli used, "Some kind of Wonderful!"

Elijah LOVES tractors! And we had to sit and drive every one of them :)
