Dad's Night at Christ Church School

In January of each year, CCS host a Dad's Night. Well, this year Byron wasn't able to attend because he was in Canada. This was hard on Byron as well as Elijah. So Elijah took it upon himself to tell his teachers that his Pawpaw was coming to Texas to take him. Well, after sharing this with my mom, for no other reason than to share it with her, she then told my dad about it  Next thing I knew I was getting a phone call from them.
Guess who was coming to Texas to take his grandson to Dad's night? You got it, Elijah's Pawpaw! Sure Elijah would have loved for his Dad to take him but this was the next best thing in his eyes. :)

The drive to our house takes typically about 8-8.5 hours. But due to the winter storm that hit the southern states, LA was prepared. So with the interstates being shut down in LA, it took my parents 14 hours to drive here!! But both of my parents said it was worth the drive because it was for Elijah.

That night both Elijah and his Pawpaw had wonderful time. Their smiles and stories they shared when they got home were priceless!

Then they had to stay 2 additional days here because they couldn't get back home because of the roads. But we were happy to have more time with them, especially with Elijah missing his Daddy so bad!!

The pictures below were taken for me by my dad for us.

Heading out the their big night

  1. The smiles and the look of happiness on their faces tell the story. Just glad that being retired we were able to go share this special event and that papaw was a good fill in for Elijah's dad. The trip was hard but very much worth it as papaw and Elijah had a great time. Papaw got to take him to school and Elijah loved that. As grandparents it was a treat for us and also Elijah. Elijah nana and papaw love you to the moon and back!
